Recent advances in technology that have significantly increased the power of media-processing resources and the rapid convergence of media within the wide area transport are creating a need to cost-effectively integrate media-processing technologies from multiple vendors into one media-processing resource. The mission of the MSP Consortium is to develop and promote a hardware- and OS-independent computer telephony value-adding interface specification that decouples DSP-based media-processing technologies from the underlying hardware resources. The MSP environment specification allows independently developed media-processing technologies to be integrated into a common media-processing hardware resource.
